Musical Boats

It's name is the M'zouazia. Its construction started in 2006, and it was put into water for the first time in November 2011. Built by a man called Nicolas Hilly and his family, the construction took place in the village of M'zouazia in the south of Mayotte....

Training the Future

Just before the Christmas holidays, the company I work for outside school asked me to teach English to a group of students training to become computer technicians. A group of ten to fifteen people aged anywhere between 16 and 40, whom I would be teaching...

I am frequently asked what my students' level of English is like. It is, after all, their third language after Shimaorese and French... and it's not as though they speak the first two properly. English is very difficult for most of the kids. Their fluency...

Let the Teacher do the Work

Recently, I've been taking my kids into the computer room. For a start, there are 15 computers, 4 of which don't work but which all the kids absolutely want to try anyway, "I'm sure I can make it work, Miss". Of course, they can't, so we all get frustrated....

He runs... he strikes !

It was the school cross-country race today. All teachers and staff had to be present, even those on their day off, which happened to be my case. We were sent into the undergrowth to cheer the students on and to give out water and sugar where necessary....
